Featuring the brand’s first ever café and an in-store hydroponic farm, Carrefour’s BIO Store offers a state-of-the-art solution for those looking to make more sustainable swaps
What makes Carrefour BIO unique:
•The new concept store was built on sustainable foundation to be a destination for health-conscious customers.
•Wood used in the store, including tables, decorations and shelves is made of used pallets from Carrefour’s Regional Distribution Centre in Dubai Investment Park.
•Implementing eco-friendly equipment to reduce energy consumption by 10%-15%.
•The new store is one of the few stores that doesn’t offer single use plastic bags at check out.
•The store houses over 3,000 products, out of which 20% is exclusive to Carrefour BIO Store.
•All fresh produce offered are organic, except for the in-store hydroponic farm production.
•The store includes a hydroponic farm that provide customers with the freshest greens and micro-salads everyday
•The store minimises waste and shrinkage through a special display.
•Prices are displayed using digital price tags connected through WiFi, which offer a sustainable substitute to printed paper labels.
•Fresh produce from a local farm (Emirates BIO Farm) are delivered directly to the store, to ensure the freshest produce on the shelves daily. Locally grown produce from Emirates Bio Farm will be available at the store within few hours from harvesting, ensuring customers will get the freshest vegetables and fruits in the UAE.
•Carrefour BIO dedicates a special area for local SMEs where they can showcase their products to grow their investments.
•The store installed two refill stations in collaboration with suppliers to help reduce the use of single use plastic. One concept is to refill water bottles, and the second one is a detergent refill station.
